Minnesota Class 2A girls hockey state tournament: Andover rolls Rosemount


The No. 3-seed Edina Hornets defeated the Lakeville North Panthers 6-0 in the Class 2A quarterfinal at Xcel Energy Center.

Edina opened the scoring with a short-handed goal in the first period. Lorelai Nelson picked up a loose puck in the Panther zone and slotted it past the goaltender.

Moments later, Edina added another when Hannah Halverson shot the puck into the top left corner.

Ellie Chapman scored the only goal in the second period to give the Hornets a 3-0 lead entering the third period. 

Halverson, Chapman and Cate McCoy added goals in the third period.

Edina will play Andover in the semifinal on February 24 at 6 p.m. at the Xcel Energy Center.
