The No. 21 Woodbury Royals (3-3) defeated the No. 19 Forest Lake Rangers (3-3) 17-14 Friday at Forest Lake High School.

Running back Mark Rendl gave Forest Lake the 7-0 lead with a 13-yard touchdown run, and the Rangers took that lead into the second quarter.

Woodbury got its first points on the board after a 29-yard field goal, and the two teams entered halftime at a score of 7-3.

Woodbury took a 10-7 lead late in the third quarter with a 9-yard touchdown pass from George Bjellos to Liam Frommelt.

The Royals extended their lead to 17-7 with a touchdown run from Isaiah Tisdale for five yards with 2:24 remaining in the game.

One minute later, Cole Gerrell threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Sam Cordie to cut the lead to 17-14.

The Royals recovered the Rangers' onside kick attempt.
