Minnesota High School Boys Basketball 2026 State Tournament Scores, Recaps, Schedule - March 24

The 2026 Minnesota high school boys basketball state tournament begins on Tuesday at Target Center in Minneapolis with the Class 4A quarterfinals and two Class 2A quarterfinals.

CLASS 4A QUARTERFINALS
No. 1 Tartan (29-0) vs. No. 8 Blaine (21-6)
No. 4 Lakeville South (23-6) vs. No. 5 Chaska (25-4)
Chaska's 12-0 run in the second half helped the Hawks pull away from the Cougars. The Hawks hit 48 percent of their shots and eight 3-point shots in the game. Lakeville South struggled to shoot the ball, and the Cougars finished 17-of-50.
Sophomore Chase Maetzold led the Hawks with 19 points and 10 rebounds. He also made five made 3-pointers.
"We're fortunate to have a lot of big-time shooters who can knock down those shots," Chaska coach Nick Hayes said.
Junior Gavin Stuart led the Cougars with 16 points.
No. 2 Wayzata (24-2) vs. No. 7 Apple Valley (17-10)
The Apple Valley Eagles upset the defending-champion Wayzata Trojans 75-73. The Eagles made 11 3-point shots to Wayzata's four.
The Trojans led by 13 points after the first five minutes, but the Eagles' shots started to fall, and the Trojans led by six at halftime.
"We’ve gotten down big in games before, so we don’t look at them as a feat we couldn’t overcome," Apple Valley head coach David Collier said.
The Eagles played well in the second half, and each 3-point shot pushed the momentum in favor of the Eagles.
Apple Valley built a 7-point lead with 2:33 remaining, but Wayzata senior Christian Wiggins continued to earn free throws and cut into the lead. He finished with a game-high 27 points.
"We left a lot out there," Wiggins said. "We could’ve executed better offensively. It was just tough."
The Trojans did execute well in the final minutes to tie the game with 26 seconds remaining.
Apple Valley had the final possession of the game, and after a miss, senior forward Ryan Christiansen made the put-back for the win.
"Right place, right time," Christiansen said. "I’m just there to clean up the boards all the time. I’m just trying to put myself in the best position to score."
No. 3 Maple Grove (23-5) vs. No. 6 Alexandria (21-7)
Senior guard Max Iversen led the Crimson with 41 points against the Cardinals.
He hit 6-of-10 of his 3-point shots, including multiple from beyond the NBA 3-point line at Target Center.
"I practice those a lot," Iversen said.
The Crimson used the week off before the before the state tournament to practice against Alexandria's matchup zone defense.
"We had a long week of practice, and each day we spent at least 30-45 minutes on how we were going to attack that," Maple Grove head coach Nick Schroeded said. "It was a little hectic early, but as we settled in, we overloaded a side and made them have to change how they wanted to guard us. We got opportunities and looks, and I think that’s why we shot it so well. Obviously, Max was on a heater."
The Crimson out rebounded the Cardinals 37-19. The Cardinals shot well at 47.9 percent, but Maple Grove's extra possessions allowed it to built a 19-point lead late in the game.
Senior Talan Witt led Alexandria with 24 points.

No. 1 Goodhue (29-1) vs. No. 8 Perham (18-12)
No. 4 Jackson County Central (24-6) vs. No. 5 Albany (24-6)
