Parkway West wins Class 1 Missouri state swimming and diving championship

Parkway West won a pair of relays while Campbell Murawski claimed second place in two events to aid the Longhorns in winning the Class One Missouri State High School Activities Association Girls Swimming and Diving Championship on Friday afternoon at the Rec-Plex in St. Peters, Mo.
The Longhorns scored 220.5 points to claim their second state title in the past three years. Central High School out of Cape Girardeau scored 187 points to earn second place while Clayton finished third on the list with 165 points.
Carissa Bersche from Parkway Central opened the finals by winning the diving title with 372.95 points. She opened the finals with 184.85 points after the first five dives to move on to the semifinal dives. Bersche kept the lead after eight dives with 272.50 points and finished the event with a top score of 372.95. Amber Miederhoff from Belton came in second place with 361.45 points while Sara Schloss of Westminster finished third with 352.65 points.
