The Raymore-Peculiar girls tennis team entered the Class 3 District 6 tournament as the No. 2 seed after losing its regular-season matchup with Lee's Summit.
The Panthers were able to avenge that regular-season loss in the district championship game on Wednesday, knocking off the top-seeded Tigers 5-3 to win their first district title since 2018.
Raymore-Peculiar, which lost the earlier matchup against Lee's Summit 5-4, improved to 13-1 with its eighth consecutive victory since that lone defeat. The Panthers will next face St. Teresa's Academy (14-4) in the quarterfinals on Monday, Oct. 10.
