Some were close. Some were blowouts.

Whatever the case, the losses were stacking up for Lafayette (Wildwood) against Eureka. Six straight going into Friday's meeting between the West County rivals.

But that streak is now history. Lafayette used two second-half touchdowns to defeat the host Wildcats, 20-13, and spoil their Homecoming as well as their unblemished record.

It was the first win for Lafayette over Eureka since 2016.

Lafayette (5-2) got three touchdowns from sophomore quarterback Jack Behl.

He connected with Robby Preckel for a first-quarter touchdown and with Zae Jones for a third-quarter score. He scored on a 1-yard run with 11:32 remaining for the game-winning tally.

The No. 14 team in the SBLive Missouri Power 25 rankings, Eureka (6-1) scored all 13 of its points in the second quarter — on a touchdown run by Ryan Holtz and two field goals from Bryce Clark – to take a 13-6 lead into halftime.
