Photos: St. Teresa's Academy tops Lee's Summit West for Class 5 District 7 girls volleyball title

STA Stars win first district championship since 2019

St. Teresa's Academy entered the Class 5 District 7 girls volleyball tournament as the No. 3 seed after suffering losses throughout the seasons to top seeds Lee's Summit West and Lee's Summit.

The third-seeded Stars avenged those earlier losses to win their first district championship since 2019.

St. Teresa's Academy defeated No. 2 seed Lee's Summit in the semifinals on Saturday and then avenged its loss to top seed Lee's Summit West with an impressive 3-1 victory (25-16, 25-22, 11-25, 26-24) on Tuesday night at Lee's Summit.

St. Teresa's Academy (16-11-1) advances to face Liberty North (29-5) in the Class 5 sectional round on Saturday with the winner advancing to the semifinals in Cape Girardeau the following weekend.

Lee's Summit West finishes its season at 22-11.
