Eagles earn a berth in state semifinals for the second time in three years

The Liberty North girls volleyball team is headed back to state.

The Eagles, who won the Missouri Class 5 championship in 2020 but were eliminated in the quarterfinal round a year ago, punched their ticket to the Class 5 semifinals with an impressive 3-1 victory (25-15, 25-21, 25-27, 25-19) over visiting St. Teresa's Academy on Saturday afternoon.

Liberty North (30-5) will face Lafayette (30-6) in the semifinals at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau. The winner will advance to face either Kickapoo or St. Dominic in the championship game on Friday.

St. Teresa's Academy finished its season with a record of 16-12-1.
