COLUMBIA, Mo. – Tay Patrick made five of the Battle boys basketball team's seven 3-pointers in the first quarter on Thursday night as the Spartans defeated Rock Bridge 52-49 for the team's first win over their crosstown rival.

Patrick led Battle with a game-high 22 points, including 15 in his red-hot first quarter. The senior guard finished with six 3-pointers on the night.

Vernell Holt added 13 points for Battle, with 10 in the second half. Tate McCubbin added eight points. 

Kanyon Hummel led Rock Bridge, the No. 23 team in the SBLive Missouri Power 25 rankings, with 10 points, while Andrew May and Brady Bowers scored nine points apiece.
