SBLive’s statewide high school boys basketball rankings are compiled by SBLive California reporter Connor Morrissette and will be released every Monday throughout the spring 2021 season.

SBLIVE CALIFORNIA TOP 25 BASKETBALL RANKINGS

April 26, 2021

1. Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.) (2-0)

Last week: 1

Even with Bronny James missing the start of the spring season through injury, Sierra Canyon is in good hands with Amari Bailey (UCLA commit) and Shy Odom. Bailey scored 23 points to lead the Trailblazers to a 103-80 win over Culver City in their opener.

2. Bishop O’Dowd (Oakland, Calif.) (0-0)

Last week: 3

Marsalis Roberson is one of the top players in California.

3. Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) (10-0)

Last week: 4

Mater Dei has three great seniors in Wilhelm Breidenbach (Nebraska commit), Harrison Hornery (USC commit) and Nick Davidson (Nevada commit). Davidson scored 23 points to leads the Monarchs to an 87-53 win over Los Alamitos on Saturday.

4. Etiwanda (2-0)

Last week: 14

Etiwanda pulled off a surprising win over Damien in their season opener.

5. Damien (La Verne, Calif.) (17-1)

Last week: 5

Damien's only loss on the season came to Etiwanda. The Spartans' best win is over Harvard-Westlake.

6. Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, Calif.) (8-2)

Last week: 7

Harvard-Westlake has great young talent led by junior Cameron Thrower and sophomore Brady Dunlap. Their two defeats came against Damien and Heritage Christian.

7. Cathedral Catholic (San Diego, Calif.) (6-0)

Last week: 13

Obinna Anyanwu (Cal commit) and Dillon Wilhite are the two top players for San Diego’s top team.

8. Ribet Academy (Los Angeles, Calif.) (0-0)

Last week: 8

Mike Price and Tre White make up one of the state’s top underclassmen duos.

9. Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.) (1-0)

Last week: 9

Michael Mitchell is one of the state’s top point guards.

10. Santa Margarita (7-0)

Last week: NR

Santa Margarita has been one of the surprises of the spring so far thanks to a win over St. John Bosco. Jake Blazona and Luke Murphy are key contributors.

11. Long Beach Poly (2-0)

Last week: 10

UCLA signee Peyton Watson is regarded as California’s top 2021 prospect.

12. St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) (9-1)

Last week: 2

Beware of St. John Bosco’s three-headed monster of Scotty Washington, Jeremiah Nyarko and Lamaj Lewis (LMU commit).

13. Archbishop Riordan (San Francisco, Calif.) (0-0)

Last week: 11

Archbishop Riordan went 23-5 a year ago and was still in the state playoffs when the COVID-19 pandemic shut down high school basketball in the state.

14. Heritage Christian (Northridge, Calif.) (9-3)

Last week: 6

After starting 9-0, Heritage Christian has lost three in a row in large part due to injuries. Heritage Christian’s best win came against Harvard-Westlake on April 3rd. The Warriors won 72-61.

15. Chaminade (West Hills, Calif.) (7-1)

Last week: 12

KJ Simpson and Keith Higgins form one of the state’s best backcourt partnerships. Chaminade's lone loss on the year came to Harvard-Westlake.

16. Torrey Pines (San Diego, Calif.) (14-0)

Last week: 15

St. Mary’s commit Chris Howell and Nick Herrmann lead a talented Falcons team. Torrey Pines best win came against Corona Centennial.

17. Corona Centennial (6-1)

Last week: 16

Sophomore Jared McCain may be the state’s top shooter. The Huskies have beaten JSerra and Fairmont Prep.

18. Windward (Los Angeles, Calif.) (5-1)

Last week: 17

2022 UCLA commit Dylan Andrews and four star big man Kijani Wright will look to lead Windward to another Southern Section title after winning the Division 1 championship a year ago. Right now, the team is on a COVID-19 pause. Before that, they'd won five straight games.

19. Campolindo (Moraga, Calif.) (4-0)

Last week: 18

Aidan Mahaney is one of the state’s best guards in the 2022 class, but he's missed time with injuries so far this season.

20. Dublin (0-0)

Last week: 21

Dublin must replace many seniors from last season’s 24-7 team, but they’ll be okay under the leadership of Tom Costello, last year’s Mercury News Bay Area Preps coach of the year.

21. St. Anthony (Long Beach, Calif.) (5-0)

Last week: 22

Juniors Elijah Price, Kaih Williams and Jaayden Bush have started strong for the Saints.

22. Westchester (Los Angeles, Calif.) (0-0)

Last week: 23

Whenever Westchester gets the green light from the Los Angelus Unified School District to start playing the question becomes: how far will senior guard TJ Wainwright take the Comets?

23. San Marcos (13-0)

Last week: 25

Devon Arlington has pushed San Marcos to a 10-0 start.

24. De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) (1-0)

Last week: NR

De La Salle began its season with a 50-36 win over Cardinal Newman.

25. St. Joseph (Santa Maria, Calif.) (7-0)

Last week: NR

The Knights are undefeated and travel to play Sierra Canyon on Saturday.
