TAMPA, Fla. - Senior forward Taylor Hendricks scored 15 of his game-high 24 points in the second half to lead Calvary Christian Academy (Florida) over Sidwell Friends (Washington, D.C.) 59-37 on Thursday afternoon in semifinals of inaugural State Champions Invitational boys basketball tournament at Berkeley Preparatory School.
Hendricks, who connected on 9-of-13 field goals, grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and had two blocked shots.
The State Champions Invitational is a four-team national tournament for NFHS state champions.
The Eagles, who won the FHSAA 4A championship this season, improved to 25-2 while advancing to Saturday's title game.
Calvary Christian outscored Sidwell Friends 20-9 in the third quarter to build a 44-31 advantage heading into the final eight minutes.
Guard Carl Cherenfant hit a 40-foot shot at the buzzer to give the Eagles a 24-22 lead at the half.
