Vote now for best high school mascot in America, Round 2: Rocky Ford Meloneers vs. Canon-McMillan Big Macs

The bracket is live for SBLive Sports' NCAA Tournament-style contest to determine the best high school mascot in America, and Round 2 is underway.

Vote below for the No. 2-seeded Rocky Ford Meloneers (Colorado) or the No. 10-seeded Canon-McMillan Big Macs (Pennsylvania) to advance to the Sweet 16. The Meloneers beat the Hamlin Pied Pipers and the Big Macs topped the Camas Papermakers (Washington) in Round 1.

The Meloneers earned a 2 seed by piling up 16,441 votes in our fall contests, while the Big Macs earned a 10 seed with 51 votes.

2. Rocky Ford Meloneers (Colorado)

From the city’s website: “From the start, melons were the staple of Rocky Ford. Today, Rocky Ford cantaloupes and watermelons have fans worldwide, thanks to the Arkansas Valley’s dramatic temperature swings from day to night (the greatest disparity in the country) that encourage the melons to sweeten. Lucille Ball was reportedly such a fan she had Rocky Ford melons delivered to her dressing room.”

10. Canon-McMillan Big Macs (Pennsylvania)

No, the mascot isn’t a hamburger that’s way smaller in real life than the commercials depict, but a soldier of a Scottish regiment. They could have gone with Big Highlander, but we’re glad Big Mac was the choice.
