Vote now for best high school mascot in America, Round 2: Lejeune Devilpups vs. Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts

Lejeune (North Carolina) is the 12 seed and Kaukauna (Wisconsin) is the 13 seed in the East region

The bracket is updated for SBLive Sports' NCAA Tournament-style contest to determine the best high school mascot in America, and Round 2 is underway.

Vote below for the No. 12-seeded Lejeune Devilpups (North Carolina) or the No. 13-seeded Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts (Wisconsin) to advance to the Sweet 16. The Devilpups beat the Mount Clemens Battling Bathers (Michigan) and the Galloping Ghosts topped the Roxana Shells (Illinois) in Round 1.

The Devilpups earned a 12 seed with 33 votes in our fall contests, while the Galloping Ghosts earned a 13 seed with 30 votes.

12. Lejeune Devilpups (North Carolina)

The Lejeune students in 1944 took the moniker “Devilpups," a reference to the Marine Corps nickname of Devil Dog and Camp Lejeune being a Marine Corps base.

13. Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts (Wisconsin)

In 1924, Kaukauna coach Bill Smith was so impressed with Red Grange, he called his small but quick group of running backs “galloping ghosts,” which stuck as a name for the school’s other teams.
