America's best high school mascot: Complete tournament bracket, links to the contest's semifinal matchups
What do Hodags, Cheesemakers, Mushers and Imps have in common?
They're the last four teams standing in SBLive Sports' NCAA Tournament-style bracket to crown America's best high school mascot.
It all started with a play-in game, followed by Round 1, Round 2, the Sweet 16, Elite Eight, and now we're down to the Final Four.
On one half of the bracket, northern Wisconsin has been voting in droves for its top-seeded Rhinelander Hodags, while coastal Oregon has helped the Tillamook Cheesemakers spring a series of upsets as a 9 seed. The Hodags and Cheesemakers each amassed more than 100,000 votes in the Elite Eight.
On the other side, the story of the tournament has been the 11-seeded Cary Imps, whose vote total has risen exponentially in each round. One more upset from the North Carolina squad, which will need to beat southern Idaho's Camas County Mushers, and the Imps will get a chance to do what the neighboring Duke Blue Devils often do on the basketball court — play for a national championship.
Hit the links below to the updated bracket and polls for the two Final Four matchups. Both polls will close at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time Thursday, June 8.
