Northwest Oregon Conference East football statistical leaders through Week 9: A game for the ages vaults this running back high up the leaderboard

By Mike Wilson
Putnam senior running back Myles Barton turned in a titanic statistical line Oct. 29, gaining 448 yards and seven touchdowns on 34 carries in the Kingsmen’s 55-41 win over The Dalles.
Barton’s 448 yards exceeded the previous high for an Oregon Class 5A/6A game in the past four years by 25 yards. The previous best of 423 yards (on 31 carries) was achieved by Jefferson’s Damir Collins in Week 3 of 2019.
The seven touchdowns matched the four-year high in Oregon Class 5A/6A football, most recently achieved by Eagle Point’s Isaiah Hill in Week 7 in a 56-6 win over Ashland. Barton is the fifth player with seven rushing touchdowns in one game in the past four seasons.
With seven scores last week, Barton rose from sixth to second in the Northwest Oregon Conference East in rushing touchdowns with 14 this season. He remained second in the NWOC East in rushing yards.
Leaders will be updated throughout the season. Please send game-by-game stats to orehssports@gmail.com. Is your team missing? Encourage your coach to respond to requests for stats.
