Here's how the SBLive Arkansas Top 25 high school football teams fared this week.
1. Bryant (12-1) beat Fayetteville 42-38
The Hornets had to scratch and claw to pull off a nail-biting, historic win. A late scoring drive put the Hornets on top for good. The victory gave Bryant its fourth straight Class 7A state title and Buck James his 200th win, and it extends Bryant’s in-state winning streak to 42 games.
2. Fayetteville (10-3) lost to Bryant 42-38
The Bulldogs had Bryant on the ropes with the lead late in the game but couldn’t stop Bryant on a late scoring drive. FHS completed one of the great turnarounds in Arkansas prep football this season, going from losing in the first round of the Class 7A playoffs last season to the state title game in 2021.
3. Conway (9-3) season complete
4. North Little Rock (10-3) season complete
5. Shiloh Christian (13-1) beat Arkadelphia 57-54
Arkadelphia had the Saints down with just over two minutes to play in a Class 4A semifinal playoff game Friday night, but the Saints mounted a late scoring drive to win the most epic prep football game played in Arkansas this fall and punch their ticket to the Class 4A state championship game.
6. Pulaski Academy (13-1) beat White Hall 51-19
PA won its 10th state title, and first under first-year coach Anthony Lucas. The Bruins jumped on the Bulldogs early in the Class 5A state championship game Friday night and never surrendered the lead in cruising to the easy win.
7. Greenwood (9-4) lost to El Dorado 27-17
The Bulldogs have battled injuries all season, down to third-team players at some positions, and couldn’t overcome losing junior star quarterback Hunter Houston late in the first half. Still, Greenwood managed to keep it close.
8.Little Rock Parkview (9-4) season complete
9. White Hall (11-2) lost to Pulaski Academy 51-19
White Hall stopped PA on a key fourth-down play in the first quarter in Bruins territory but then promptly fumbled the ball back to PA. That was the beginning of the end for the Bulldogs, who enjoyed a historic run in earning a state final berth for the first time since 1987.
10. Bentonville (8-3) season complete
11. El Dorado (11-2) beat Greenwood 27-17
Wildcats junior running back Shadarious Plummer terrorized the Greenwood defense for 181 yards on 26 carries and scored all four of the Wildcats’ touchdowns. The El Dorado defense did its part with eight sacks, keeping the Greenwood offense neutralized.
12. Greenbrier (12-1) season complete
13. Little Rock Christian(10-3) season complete
14. Benton (9-2) season complete
15. Cabot (8-4) season complete
16. Fort Smith Northside (7-5) season complete
17. Lake Hamilton (9-3) season complete
18. Warren (11-2) lost to Joe T. Robinson 43-13
Warren’s 11-game winning streak comes to an end in the Class 4A state playoff semifinals.
19. Joe T. Robinson (13-1) beat Warren 43-13
The Senators make a major statement in dominating the Lumberjacks in Bradley County. After an easy draw in the early rounds, the Senators more than passed their first big test of the postseason and now will try to beat No. 5 Shiloh Christian for the second time in three seasons.
20. Marion (6-7) season complete
21. Jonesboro (7-4) season complete
22. Nettleton (11-1) season complete
23. Stuttgart (11-2) season complete
24. Prescott (14-0) beat McGehee 36-20
There were probably some pundits who picked the Owls, the defending Class 3A runners-up, to win Friday’s semifinal game at home. However, the Curley Wolves proved why they are the only 3A team in the rankings at this time and why they are the best team in Class 3A in running the table so far.
25. Camden Fairview (10-2) season complete
