Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Central North Carolina high school football defensive football player of the week for Oct. 6 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. JaDon Blair, Mount Tabor: Blair finished with 9.5 tackles and a pass break-up in a 35-34 win over Davie County.
Paul Widerman, Reidsville: Widerman recorded 14 tackles and forced a fumble in a 49-8 win over West Stokes.
Austin Settles, Ardrey Kell: Settles had 12 tackles and 2.5 sacks in a 32-16 loss to Myers Park.
Max Riley, Cannon School: Riley had three interceptions and five tackles in a 21-7 win over Charlotte Latin.
Griff Galloway, Providence Day: Galloway recorded 10 tackles, two sacks and forced a fumble in a 49-13 win against Charlotte Country Day.
Jamari Clark, Monroe: Clark had six tackles, four tackles for loss and three sacks in a 55-7 win against Parkwood.
