Paul McNeil Jr. follows 71-point performance with his 2,000th point

Richmond (North Carolina) star has a milestone encore to his record setting effort in a victory over Pine Forest

ROCKINGHAM, NORTH CAROLINA – You would think that there was not much Richmond's Paul McNeil Jr. could do to top his 71-point performance against Lee County, on Tuesday, which broke a 74-year old scoring record for most points in a North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) boys high school basketball game, but the North Carolina State recruit found a way.

Just 24 hours removed from the record, Richmond hosted Pine Forest in the annual Jason Norton Classic, named for a longtime coach and athletic director who worked at both schools, and McNeil poured in 37-points, including the 2,000th of his high school career, as the Raiders rolled to a 79-33 victory.

McNeil came into the contest just 12 points shy of the personal milestone and surpassed the mark with a three-point jumper, late in the first quarter, to move to 2,002 points for his career. By night's end, he was at 2,025 points.

The silky smooth senior is now averaging better than 33-points per game this season.
