Here are 10 players for your voting consideration

We have 10 athletes nominated this week for SBLive’s North Carolina Girls Basketball Player of the Week from Jan. 15-20 and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week’s poll.

Here are this week's nominees:

Sarah Strong, Grace Christian Academy

Strong is one of the nation’s top recruits playing for a team in the national top 25. The 6-foot-2 senior had 17 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists as the undefeated Crusaders overwhelmed Wesleyan Christian Academy 80-39. Then she had 28 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists in a 60-43 showdown win over fellow state power Bishop McGuinness. Strong, whose parents both played Division I college basketball, averages 19.6 points and 16.7 rebounds per game.

Gabby Locklear, Lumberton

Locklear scored 21 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and handed out 5 assists in Lumberton’s 70-35 win over Douglas Byrd.

Aziyah Boyer, Goldsboro

Boyer dominated by scoring 32 points for the undefeated Cougars in their 53-52 victory over Beddingfield. The 5-foot-11 sophomore is averaging 19.5 points and 10.8 rebounds a game.

Kamryn Kitchen, Independence

Kitchen scored 21 points and surpassed 1,000 for her career in a 67-34 thumping of Mint Hill.

Misa Garris, Garinger

The sophomore standout had 21 points, 5 rebounds, 6 steals and 2 assists as Garinger rallied for a 50-45 win over Rocky River.

Mya Edwards, West Rowan

Edwards tied her career high with 18 points as the defending 3-A state champions won their 22nd consecutive conference game in routing J.M. Robinson 84-47.

Camri Hobbs, J.M. Robinson

Hobbs, a 6-foot-3 guard and the second-ranked sophomore in North Carolina, scored 29 points in the loss to West Rowan.

Imani Ikard, Foard

Ikard had 8 points, 13 rebounds, 4 blocked shots and excelled on defense as Foard outlasted Hickory 67-61 in overtime.

Molli Harris, St. Stephens

Harris scored 23 points and had 4 steals in the Indians’ 62-27 victory over Statesville. The 5-foot-6 senior was 9-of-10 from the field, including 5-of-5 3-pointers, and went over 1,000 points for her career.

Alexis Shehan, Lake Norman

Shehan had 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists as the Wildcats rolled to an 83-34 win over South Iredell. The 5-foot-11 junior is Lake Norman’s third-leading scorer with 15.7 points per game.
