Solon's Hailyn Shuster and Twinsburg's Kaly Drenski have 5-for-5 games, but raising funds for a Roxbury Elementary student recently diagnosed with cancer was the day's biggest win.

Solon softball beat Twinsburg in a 11-10 thriller Saturday, but the Comets were playing for more than the game at Roxbury Field.

The team held a bake sale along with selling wristbands to raise money for a student at Roxbury Elementary School who was recently diagnosed with lymphoma.

As of 6:30 p.m. they had raised over $2,000 at the Strike Out Cancer doubleheader, with all of the proceeds going to the family of fourth-grader Braylon Gallagher, who threw out the first pitch.

"We're here to support Braylon, and we wanted to do something special for him," Solon outfielder Liz Arth said.

As for Game 1 itself, senior Hailyn Shuster hit the winning single in the bottom of the seventh to break a 10-10 tie in walk-off fashion.

Shuster was the star of the game, going 5-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs.

Sophomore Janie Radis went 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs, and freshman Alyssa Gerome went 3-for-4.

Gianna Gahagan led the Twinsburg offense, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs.

Twinsburg won 15-7 in Game 2 as Kaly Drenski mimicked Shuster's Game 1, going 5-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs.
