Lucas Bartron, Wyoming Seminary College Prep boys lacrosse
In two playoff wins this week, the senior scored nine goals and had seven assists for a total of 16 points.
Ethan Blair, Rochester baseball
Helped lead Rochester to a 2-0 win over Sewickley Academy in the WPIAL Class 3A quarterfinals. Blair threw a complete game shutout and struck out 10 hitters.
Caleigh Bogats, Chartiers Valley girls lacrosse
With three goals in a playoff win over Oakland Catholic on Wednesday, the senior captain recorded her 100th career goal.
Zach Brockner, Owen J. Roberts baseball
In the Pioneer Athletic Conference semifinals on Wednesday, Brockner threw a complete game shutout in leading the Wildcats to a 3-0 win over Perkiomen Valley. He allowed just two first inning hits and walked one while striking out five.
Brady Cree, Fairfield baseball
The sophomore hurler went the distance on the mound in a 3-1 win over York Catholic. He allowed just the one run on four hits and struck out three. It was the first complete game of the season for Cree.
Madi Fischer, South Side softball
In the WPIAL 1A tournament on Tuesday, Fisher threw a complete game shutout in a 14-0 win over Northgate. She also collected three hits, drove in three runs and scored three times to help her own cause.
Jason Fultz, Cathedral Prep baseball
The sophomore hit a home run and drove in three runs on Monday as Cathedral Prep defeated Corry 13-0.
Maddie Gross, Seneca Valley softball
On Monday, Gross had three hits, including a double and a homer and drove in six runs to help lead Seneca Valley to a 20-4 win over Hampton. The senior then hit two homers and drove in seven runs in a 17-1 win over Bethel Park in the WPIAL Class 6A quarterfinals on Thursday. Her last home run ended the game due to the run rule.
Alexis Hrivnak, Springdale softball
On Wednesday, she tossed a no-hitter in an 11-0 win over Rochester. In five innings, she struck out 13. And then she came back in the WPIAL 1A quarterfinals on Friday and allowed just one run while striking out 18 hitters in a 2-1 win over South Side.
Gary Martin, Archbishop Wood track and field
The senior ran a mile in 3:57:98 at the Pennsylvania Catholic League Championship on Monday. He becomes the first high school runner to break four minutes in the mile without a pacer since 1965.
Emma Maurer, Tri-Valley softball
She threw a complete-game shutout on Tuesday as Tri-Valley defeated North Schuylkill 3-0. In the game, she fanned 13 hitters. She came back on Wednesday to throw another complete game and struck out 12 hitters in a 2-1 win over Blue Mountain. In two games in the league playoffs, she didn’t allow a single earned run in 14 innings and struck out 25 hitters.
Mason Montrella, Radnor boys lacrosse
In two wins in the District 1 playoffs this week, Montrella scored seven goals, with five of those in the first quarter to help Radnor jump out to early leads in both games.
Angelina Pepe, Norwin softball
In the first round of the WPIAL 6A playoffs, Pepe allowed just one run on five hits and had nine strikeouts in an 11-1 win over Baldwin. At the plate, she hit two home runs with three RBI.
Miranda Shafer, North East softball
In a 21-11 win over Mercyhurst Prep on Thursday, the junior hit two homers and drove in six runs. She also finished the game with three hits and four runs scored. On Wednesday, she had a hit and drew four walks, scoring four times in a 20-7 win over Conneaut (OH). In three games over the week, she had five hits in seven at-bats and walked eight times. She scored 11 runs and drove in eight.
Edwin Smink, Henderson baseball
The senior threw six innings of shutout baseball in a 2-0 win over Bishop Shanahan on Wednesday. He allowed just four hits and struck out 14 while not walking a single batter. On Tuesday, he drove in four runs and had two hits, including a double, in a 13-2 win over Great Valley.
