In an effort to shine a brighter spotlight on Washington high school basketball players, we are introducing our first-ever SBLive Boys Basketball Recruiting Rankings.

Our rankings are compiled by SBLive Basketball Analyst Dan Dickau based on observations and conversations with an extensive network of coaching and media sources across the country. The players have been evaluated through a college recruiting lens and analyzed in four categories: athleticism, ball skills, basketball IQ and upside.

Over the next few weeks we will roll out our Top 25 players in Washington. Here's a closer look at No. 24 on the list, Brewster sophomore Kelson Gebbers:

DICKAU'S ANALYSIS

ATHLETICISM: Gebbers is a slender wing who has started to fill out and add strength to his frame. He comes from a very athletic family as his father played baseball and a year of basketball at Gonzaga in the early 2000s. He will occasionally surprise you athletically with an above the rim play and this will become routine when his strength catches up.

BALL SKILLS: The first thing skill wise that jumps out at you is his shooting ability. With added strength his range — which is now to the three-point line — will become deep three range. He has shown an improved handle and ability to attack the rim while playing in summer and fall events with Friends of Hoop. 

BASKETBALL IQ: Many times basketball IQ is harder to analyze with a small school player because they standout with skills and athleticism. But all indications are that Gebbers has a high IQ. I do want to see his development with this over the next stretch because many coaches at the next level are intrigued by his tools.

UPSIDE: Even though Brewster is a small school in Central Washington they have produced some outstanding players, including former Gonzaga starter David Pendergraft. Gebbers could become the best player ever out of Brewster at the high school level.

Does Gebbers continue to physically develop while repping out his jump shot to become consistent while growing his IQ? All points lead to this happening, which is why many Division I schools are keeping tabs on him.
