Christopher Vizzina, nation’s No. 7 quarterback, commits to Clemson; Domino effect at quarterback likely

Alabama four-star quarterback Christopher Vizzina committed to Clemson over Georgia, Ohio State and others

The Clemson Tigers quarterback room just added even more talent.

Already boasting former five-star St. John Bosco signal-caller D.J. Uiagalelei and Cade Klubnik, the nation’s No. 1 quarterback prospect in the 2022 class, Clemson got another big-time talent.

On Tuesday, consensus four-star quarterback Christopher Vizzina announced his commitment, choosing the Tigers over fellow finalists Auburn, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Ole Miss .

The 6-foot-4, 207-pound passer, out of Briarwood Christian High School (Birmingham, Alabama), is rated the nation’s No. 52 overall prospect and No. 7 quarterback.

According to The Clemson Insider, Vizzina’s commitment was far from a surprise.

The talented quarterback has already visited Clemson twice this month, highlighted by a Saturday trip to the Orange and White spring game.

His commitment not only gives Clemson a major talent behind Klubnik, it also advances the quarterback storylines nationally.

Traditionally in recruiting there’s a domino effect to top-ranked quarterback commitments.

As one elite signal-caller comes off the board, top college football programs adjust their focus to the “next man up.”

In the class of 2023, that most significant domino yet to fall is Louisiana product and consensus five-star quarterback Arch Manning, who is strongly considering Alabama, Georgia Ole Miss and Texas.

The nation’s No. 2 and 3 quarterbacks, California duo Malachi Nelson and Nico Iamaleava, have committed to USC and Tennessee, respectively.

Texas product Jackson Arnold, the nation’s No. 6 quarterback, is also off the board to Oklahoma, while Florida's Marcus Stokes (No. 10) is a Penn State pledge.

That leaves Manning, Michigan’s Dante Moore (No. 4), California’s Jaden Rashada (No. 5), Louisiana's Eli Holstein (No. 8) and Georgia’s Dylan Lonergan (No. 9) as the lone top-10 quarterbacks nationally yet to announce their decisions.

Expect their recruitments to continue to ramp up each time an elite signal-caller comes off the board.

Still in search of signal-callers in this class are programs such as Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M and others.

This week, it was Vizzina’s turn to secure his landing spot.

He’s a Clemson Tiger.
