Prediction: LSU Tigers to land elite in-state running back

Louisiana running back Trey Holly has said LSU will be tough to beat

"I can't let you leave."

Those were the words LSU football coach Brian Kelly delivered to Union Parish High School (Louisiana) running back Trey Holly during a recent unofficial visit to campus.

And for good reason.

The 5-foot-8, 195-pound ball-carrier started playing varsity in the eighth grade and has already amassed a staggering 7,829 yards and 108 touchdowns.

Holly's goal for his senior season? 3,000 yards, 50 touchdowns and a state title.

Rated the nation's No. 2 all-purpose back, the Louisiana product's favorite playmaker is former LSU star Clyde Edwards-Helaire and he recently admitted the pull to LSU will be significant - even though he said he's open to other schools.

"Don’t get me wrong, LSU is going to have a big shot," he said. "I’d get to play in front of 100,000 people - my friends, my family can see me play. They have a big shot.” 

How big?

Prediction: Holly to LSU 

Kelly has made Holly a priority, and he's an in-state back who is enamored with the program's running back tradition and the opportunity to play in front of friends and family.

Sure, a lot of other programs are going to make a run at him.

But "Holly to LSU" feels about as inevitable as the dynamic playmaker reaching the end zone a few times every Friday night.
