2022 NFL Draft recruiting rewind: Ohio State's Garrett Wilson to New York Jets

Texas product Garrett Wilson was a five-star recruit and ended up being a top-10 NFL Draft pick

The Ohio State Buckeyes are expected to produce two NFL first-round draft picks at the wide receiver position this year.

Coming out of Lake Travis High School (Texas) in the class of 2019, Garrett Wilson was already projected as a future high-end NFL Draft pick.

His status as a first-round prospect is far from a surprise.

Wilson was selected No. 10 overall by the New York Jets. 

Here's how Wilson was rated as a high school prospect:

Ranking: 5-star prospect; Nation's No. 29 overall prospect, No. 2 wide receiver, No. 5 prospect in Texas

Notable: The only wide receiver rated higher than Wilson? Oklahoma-turned-Arkansas wide receiver Jadon Haselwood, who struggled his first two years of college but racked up nearly 400 yards and six touchdowns as a sophomore. 

Rivals

Ranking: 4-star prospect; Nation's No. 32 overall prospect, No. 6 wide receiver 

Notable: Haselwood took the top spot in Rivals' rankings as well, but Georgia's George Pickens was No. 2.

Wilson was projected as a future high NFL pick, and just missed five-star status. 

In fact, he was the highest-rated wide receiver in the country not to receiver a fifth star. 

ESPN

Ranking: 4-star prospect, Nation's No. 17 overall prospect, No. 2 wide receiver

Notable: ESPN was stingy with five-star rankings in the class of 2019, giving the distinction out to just 14 prospects. 

Wilson was No. 17 - just three spots shy - but ESPN listed him higher than the other two recruiting services.
