Eli Holstein, Louisiana 4-star quarterback and record-setting athlete, commits to Alabama Crimson Tide

It's been big month for Zachary High School (Louisiana) quarterback Eli Holstein.
At the Elite 11 Las Vegas regional in early May, the 6-foot-4, 222-pound signal-caller set a new all-time Nike SPARQ testing record for the quarterback position, shattering the old mark of 124 with a 133.56.
Holstein ran a 4.64 40-yard dash, posted a 38.3-inch vertical leap, sprinted to a 4.19 20-yard shuttle and tossed the power ball for a mark of 45.5 - all of which are considered solid-to-elite numbers.
That performance was an immediate attention grabber, and set fire to his already-blazing hot recruitment.
On Tuesday, Holstein put an end to the process, announcing his commitment to Alabama over offers from Florida, LSU, Texas A&M and more than 20 others:
As my Pawpaw used to say, ROLL DAMN TIDE!!! 🐘🐘🐘@_ZHSFootball @CoachBrew1 @CoachGolding @samspiegs @SWiltfong247 @JUSTCHILLY pic.twitter.com/X7HJjCGfdO

The Louisiana product, who de-committed from Texas A&M in March, is rated the nation's No. 54 overall prospect and No. 8 quarterback, and has accepted invites to the All-American Bowl and Elite 11 Finals.
Both of those events could dramatically boost his stock, particularly since he just recently set a new standard for high school quarterback testing metrics.
As a junior, Holstein threw for 3,264 yards and 29 touchdowns with six interceptions, adding 515 yards and 14 scores on the ground.
Here's what 247Sports had to say about Holstein as a prospect:
"Solidly built with the requisite height/size for the position. Good tester with proven athleticism in a combine setting. Effective in the short-to-intermediate passing game thanks to plus velocity. Typically accurate and consistent to those levels. Not a true dual-threat QB but a functionally athletic runner when necessary. More of a pocket/pro-style QB by nature who shows occasional improvisational ability when required. Ball placement is a strength and shows in games and 7-on-7 competition. Can push the ball downfield but sometimes needs to load up to do so. Field athleticism does not always reflect testing data. Brings the ball a bit low at times. May not have the high-end upside of some other quarterbacks in his class, but seems to be a particularly high-floor QB prospect with the potential for a safer long-term trajectory. High-major QB prospect who will arrive in college ready to compete from a physical standpoint."
