Prediction: Kentucky Wildcats to secure historic football recruiting win

SBLive Director of Recruiting Andrew Nemec expects Kentucky to land an historic quarterback commitment

Lexington Christian Academy (Kentucky) star Cutter Boley is rated the nation's No. 5 quarterback in the class of 2025.

And he's set to announce his commitment Thursday morning.

But his college decision may not be the only major announcement for the 6-foot-5, 203-pound signal-caller.

Prediction: Cutter Boley to Kentucky, reclassify into 2024

Boley is down to a final five of Florida State, Kentucky, Michigan, Penn State and Tennessee.

For several weeks, however, the Wildcats have felt like the overwhelming favorites to secure his commitment.

This week, Boley talked to SBLive Sports about his five finalists and had high praise for Mark Stoops' program.

"It's home town. I grew up a U-K fan," he said. "I really like coach (Liam) Coen, I really like coach (Mark) Stoops. Coach Stoops has done really incredible things with the program. Since he's been there, he's really turned it around to where they are really competitive in the SEC. I think they are headed in the right direction. The offense is going to get better every year under Coen, and the defense is going to get better also."

Adding to the intrigue, Boley has been granted permission to take official visits this summer, which would seem to indicate he is set to reclassify into the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Boley has the completed credits to do so, and has previously discussed a desire to move up a year if the situation fits.

Given that Kentucky didn't sign a high school quarterback in the 2023 class and still doesn't have a 2024 verbal pledge this year, the situation should suit Boley.

If the Kentucky product were to choose the in-state program he would be the No. 2 quarterback pledge in program history, behind only fellow Kentucky prep standout Tim Couch (class of 1996).
