Ryan Wingo's dad hints son's recruitment isn't over: 'You never know what could happen'

St. Louis University (Missouri) five-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo committed to Texas on Wednesday

It was a battle until the bitter end.

Missouri Tigers or Texas Longhorns?

After weeks of seemingly trading the lead back-and-forth, it was the Texas Longhorns who came out on top when St. Louis University (Missouri) five-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo announced his commitment Wednesday.

But it may not be over.

Talking to KSDK Sports Director Frank Cusumano, Wingo's dad said his son's recruitment isn't over, and that the family will still be listening to Missouri's recruiting pitch.

“Signing day is December 20th… you never know what can happen.”

Wingo, the nation's No. 5 overall prospect and No. 2 wide receiver, himself shared similar sentiment.

"For sure, I'll obviously accept (Missouri's recruitment)," he said. "Like I said, I'm locked in with Texas right now. Obviously, (Missouri) can recruit me still, but I'm locked in with Texas right now." 

Missouri fans dreamed of an historic in-state duo leading their 2024 recruiting class, having already secured the commitment of Lee's Summit North five-star defensive end Williams Nwaneri.

Wingo's verbal commitment seemed to end those lofty hopes. 

But as it turns out, that dream may still be alive.
