Derik Queen, nation's No. 2 power forward, down to 4
The top power forwards in the class of 2024 are making major moves this week.
Interestingly enough, they are also teammates.
Montverde Academy (Florida) stars Asa Newell and Derik Queen are the nation's No. 1 and No. 2 power forwards, respectively, and both provided major recruiting updates recently.
Earlier this week, Newell announced his commitment to Georgia.
On Friday, Queen announced a top four of Houston, Indiana, Kansas and Maryland:

The 6-foot-9, 230-pound big man is rated the nation's No. 15 overall prospect and No. 2 power forward.
While Queen hasn't yet set a commitment date, the uncommitted star has already taken official visits to each of his four finalists and is believed to nearing a decision ahead of the basketball early signing period, which begins November 8.
Here's what On3 had to say about Queen as a prospect:
"Derik Queen is a big-framed post player. He is very skilled, with big hands, strength, and confidence with the ball. He can score on the block, over both shoulders. He has footwork, patience, and an array of counters over both shoulders. He can face up and knock down a shot from three. He can also attack off the bounce as a trail big or from the high post. The athleticism is a question. Where does he guard moving forward as a below-the-rim post? When the motor is running hot, he is a good area rebounder and is an adept scorer at multiple levels.”
