Malik Washington announces top 6; Maryland's top quarterback prospect trims list

Archbishop Spalding (Maryland) four-star quarterback Malik Washington announced his top six Thursday

Archbishop Spalding (Maryland) four-star quarterback Malik Washington is one of the top quarterbacks in the Northeast in the class of 2025.

Rated the nation's No. 186 overall prospect and No. 16 quarterback, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound signal-caller holds nearly 20 scholarship offers.

But on Thursday he trimmed down his list to six - Maryland, Oregon Penn State, Syracuse, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech:

Washington has visited four of his six finalists, but has yet to check out either Syracuse or Texas A&M.

As a junior, the star quarterback completed 195 of 313 passes for 2,093 yards and 21 touchdowns with an additional six scores on the ground, leading Spalding to a second straight MIAA A Conference championship.

Expect another round of spring visits for Washington before he makes a decision, although Penn State is considered the unofficial favorite.

"“It is about the atmosphere with Penn State," Washington told On3. "I have been there multiple times and they might have the best fan base of all the schools on my list. I was there for the Michigan game and the fans are always loud. I have a great relationship with Danny O'Brien too.”
