MT. PLEASANT, SOUTH CAROLINA – They call it the second season for a reason.

In the case of the Lancaster football team, which went just 1-9 during the regular season, the post-season has truly been a second lease on life. After Friday's 38-20 road win at Lucy Beckham, the Bruins have now won more playoff games in 2023 than they did during the entire regular season campaign.

Lancaster has also now advanced to the third round of the SCHSL 4A state playoffs, something it hasn't done in 15 years.

The Bruins, the 13th seed, were dominant in this one, building a 16-6 lead after one quarter and never looking back. They led 24-14 at the half and stretched that margin to 38-20 after three quarters.

Second-seeded Lucy Beckham went 9-1 in the reuglar season and was coming off a 37-7 rout of West Florence in last week's playoff opener.
