Big on everything, Beamer 4-star lineman Malik Agbo signs with the Texas Longhorns

In the end, the wide-casting, booming personality that is Malik Agbo couldn't ignore the lure of the place where they do it the biggest.

Agbo, a four-star lineman recruit out of Beamer High School, announced Wednesday at a ceremony in his home gymnasium that he was signing with the University of Texas Longhorns as his next home for football.

The 6-foot-6, 330-pounder chose the Longhorns over Auburn, Miami and Oklahoma, his other co-finalists.

"I knew about a week ago after talking with my family, talking with other players on the team," said Agbo, rated the No. 7 in-state senior recruit by 247Sports.com. "I like what Coach Sark (Steve Sarkisian) has going on, building something special."

Agbo, a four-time NPSL first-team offensive and defensive lineman, was one of the first recruits the Longhorns offered a scholarship to when Sarkisian was hired last January. And after he went on his official visit to Austin in mid-October, the teenager announced a month later that Texas was one of his four finalists.

And while Agbo did admit Auburn made a hard charge at him at the end, the Longhorns won out.

"Just so much relief," he said.

And during his early signing-period announcement gathering, he couldn't contain his excitement sitting next to his parents and sister.

When it was time to reveal his decision, Agbo went old school - he pulled out a burnt orange-colored Texas hat to put on his head.

"I had a couple of (college-reveal) ideas in mind, but I went the old, traditional way," Agbo said.

And now the Longhorns get the big man - and the biggest class-of-2022 recruit physically out of Washington - on their campus.

"We went hand in hand," Agbo said. "Texas fits real well with me and my personality."
