SAN ANTONIO - Behind a stingy defensive that held South Grand Prairie to single digitals in the first three quarters, DeSoto cruised to a 40-23 victory Saturday night in the UIL Class 6A girls basketball championship at the Alamodome.

The Warriors managed to score just five points combined in the second and third quarters.

Ja'Mia Harris had a game-high 16 points for DeSoto (35-2) and was named the game's MVP. Jiya Perry contributed nine points for the Eagles while teammate Sa'Myah Smith had a team-high six rebounds and five blocked shots.

Victoria Dixon led South Grand Prairie (35-5) with 10 points.
