Congratulations to DeSoto girls basketball guard Ja'Mia Harris for being voted SBLive’s Texas High School Athlete of the Week for Feb. 28-March 6!

The senior had a game-high 16 points and was named MVP in DeSoto's 40-23 6A state championship win over South Grand Prairie.

Harris received 56.91% of the vote, beating out McMullen County's Troy Allen who finished second with 41.66%. There were over 35,000 votes tallied this week!

BOYS BASKETBALL

Troy Allen, McMullen County:

The senior scored 13 of his team-high 16 points in the fourth quarter to help McMullen County beat Chireno 54-48 in the Region IV-1A Texas boys basketball semifinals.

MJ Thomas, Calvert:

The junior scored a game-high 25 points and was 9-of-15 from the free throw line in Calvert's Region IV-1A Tournament win over McMullen County.

Ron Holland, Duncanville:

Holland scored 15 points to lead Duncanville past Garland, 61-38, in the 6A Region II championship game.

Trae Clayton, Kimball:

The combo guard recorded a double-double (25 points, 10 rebounds) along with three assists, and three steals to lead Kimball to a Region final overtime win against Frisco Memorial.

Ja'Kobe Walter, McKinney:

The junior guard recorded 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead McKinney to their first 6A state tournament trip in 94 years.

Rodney Geter, Madison:

Geter scored 26 points against Tatum in the 3A Region II final.

Chendall Weaver, Timberview:

Weaver had 28 points and was 8-of-11 from the field against Amarillo in the 5A Region I final.

Ajani Jamison, Grace Prep:

The senior guard had 16 points along with a few three-pointers in TAPPS 4A state championship win against John Paul.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Mekhayla Moore, Brownsboro:

Moore scored 19 points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds to lift Brownsboro over Hardin-Jefferson 50-49 in the 4A state championship.

Bailey Maupin, Gruver:

The senior guard and Texas Tech commit capped off her historic high school career with a double-double ( 14 points, 14 rebounds) to help Gruver become the seventh Texas state championship team to finish undefeated within the last decade.

Gisella Maul, Cedar Park:

Maul scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed 19 rebounds to lift Cedar Park over Frisco Memorial 45-40 in double-overtime for the UIL 5A state championship.

Breyunna Dowell, Fairfield:

Dowell had 20 points, six rebounds and five steals in Fairfield's 60-54 3A state championship win over Winnsboro.

Elysa Martinez, Sands:

Martinez recorded a game-high 22 points and had 10 steals to lead Sands over Robert Lee 60-33 in the 1A state championship.

Tiffany Meador, Huckabay:

Meador had 20 points, eight rebounds, two blocks, and two steals in the state semifinals against Sands.

Jada Celsur, Martin’s Mill:

Celsur scored 27 points, seven rebounds, five steals, and two assists in the state semifinals against Stamford.
