After a year defined by record-breaking performances, dominant teams and elite playmakers, it’s time to reflect upon and honor the top players during the 2021-22 Texas high school girls basketball season.

As part of our end-of-season review, SBLive has recognized the most outstanding individual players and coaches around the state from the 2021-22 campaign with our all-region teams and awards.

Now, it’s time to look for the most prolific scorers and tenacious defenders across the Lone Star State and reveal SBLive’s 2021-22 All-State Texas Girls Basketball teams and awards.

All-state picks are divided down into first, second and third-team selections and are categorized by classification (Class 1A-6A and Private Schools). Additionally, five all-state awards are available at each classification level: MVP, Newcomer of the Year, OPOY, DPOY and Coach of the Year.

CLASS 6A AWARDS

MVP: Junior G Samantha Wagner (San Antonio Reagan)

Wagner, who recently committed to Texas, averaged 26.0 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.9 blocks, 1.5 steals in 31 games.

Offensive Player of the Year: Senior G Nyanna Robertson (Fort Worth Boswell)

Robertson, a George Washington signee, averaged 24.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.9 steals, 2.4 assists in 38 games.

Defensive Player of the Year: Senior F Sa’Myah Smith (DeSoto)

Smith, who signed with LSU, averaged 12.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 5.5 blocks in 37 games.

Newcomer of the Year: Freshman G LA Sneed (San Antonio Wagner)

Sneed averaged 19.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 3.3 steals in 31 games.
