Football schedules for leagues set to resume high school sports in Washington's Puget Sound and West regions

High school sports have the green light to return in two of the state’s eight regions after Washington Gov. Jay Inslee loosened the requirements to move to Phase 2 of the state’s COVID-19 reopening plan on Thursday.

The West and Puget Sound regions will move to Phase 2 on Monday, Feb. 1, which means football teams can officially start practicing. Leagues in these counties have the go-ahead from state officials to play moderate and high risk outdoor sports. 

Here are the counties that are included in the West and Puget Sound regions.

West Region

• Pacific County
• Thurston county

Puget Sound Region

• King County
• Pierce County
• Snohomish County

Many leagues across the state have formulated condensed, league-only schedules that put traditional fall sports first starting in February or March. And many of those schedules are still in the works and schools’ ability to return to play hinges on the district. Some districts have not yet provided a path for sports to return.
