Photos: Two familiar Metro League girls basketball contenders - No. 1 Garfield and Eastside Catholic - tangle in first 2022 meeting
SAMMAMISH – Guards Malia Samuels and Katie Fiso scored 23 points apiece, and the No. 1 and defending Class 3A champion Garfield Bulldogs erased a first-half deficit to post an 88-50 Metro League victory over host Eastside Catholic on Saturday night.
Twice, the Crusaders held eight-point advantages in the first half – the last at 23-15 early in the second quarter.
But Garfield closed the final 2:20 of the first half on a 15-2 run, capped by three consecutive Fiso buckets in the final 59 seconds to take a 42-30 halftime lead.
Fiso tallied 18 points in the first half.
Isabel Sullivan led Eastside Catholic with her team-high 17 points, 10 coming in the first quarter.
