After another lackluster start against the Padres, Dodgers starter Tony Gonsolin's spot in the rotation came into question among both fans and manager Dave Roberts.

Addressing the media after the win in San Diego, Roberts said that Gonsolin's place as a starter was still secure though not rock solid after another poor outing.

“I expect Tony to make that next start on Friday or Saturday. We’ll see. Performance matters. He had one bad inning. Got through six innings. But yeah, Clayton is gonna start on Thursday and then we’ll see how it goes from there.”

Gonsolin took the mound on Monday afternoon for the final game of four against the Padres.

Things started off well for the Cat Man after he retired the Padres in order through 2 innings but quickly unraveled with the bottom of San Diego's lineup.

Catcher Luis Campusano drove in two with a home run to kick off a string of five straight reaching for the Padres in the bottom of the third.

When all was said and done, Gonsolin surrendered five runs in the frame and put the Dodgers in a massive hole to climb out of.

Though the Dodgers rallied for eight runs in the top of the fourth, including Mookie Betts' grand slam off of Seth Lugo, Gonsolin's early troubles have to be the main topic of discussion long term for LA.

Roberts mentioned that Clayton Kershaw's return to the rotation was imminent meaning that Gonsolin's role in the postseason could be limited or eliminated altogether.

An All-Star last season with a sparkling ERA and win total, things have fallen apart for Gonsolin who now sports a 4.42 ERA after giving up six in this most recent start.

Going from someone the Dodgers were relying on to being a potential candidate to be off the postseason roster, we can only hope that Gonsolin gets it together before the season's up.
