Over the weekend, both a part of Dodger Stadium and New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge broke. Well not literally for Judge but he did land on the 10-day IL after he crashed into the chain-link fence in right field during the game Saturday night.

Los Angeles is planning to reinforce the fence and add a padding strip on the concrete portion to ensure more safety after the events.

Judge hit the fence while he was robbing Dodgers’ J.D. Martinez of an extra base hit in the eighth inning of the game. His giant frame did a number on the fence and even surprised some in the Dodger front office.

“He actually broke through where some of the panels were joined, the barrier between the two connecting panels. Which is unbelievable. But we’re going to strengthen that and add a strip of padding on the bottom as well.”

Things like this are a rare occurrence in the sport but when they do happen, it's a reminder that you can never be too careful when it comes to safety precautions. These athletes put their bodies on the line every day so making sure that the fields and areas around the game are safe is of the utmost importance.
