JD Martinez Speaks Highly of Dodgers Top Prospect

The veteran has been working with Miguel Vargas in the offseason.

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder J.D. Martinez has high praise for rookie teammate Miguel Vargas.

The 23-year-old infielder quickly rose through the minor leagues due to his impressive skills and potential. Vargas has already established himself as a key player for the Dodgers and one of the top young talents in the league.

Martinez, who has been a dominant force in the league for several years, has taken notice of Vargas' talent and is impressed with what he's seen from the rookie so far. Martinez told reporters at Mookie Betts' first annual charity bowling event that he has been working closely with Vargas already:

"Yeah, (Robert Von Scoyoc) and Chris the hitting coaches told me about this kid Vargy and how much he looks up to you and idolizes you and it kind of happened after Rob came down to Ft. Lauderdale to get some work after I signed. He brough Vargy out and we hit it off. He's a very humble kid, great kid, you can tell he comes from a good family. A lot of talent, I'm excited about him. I've talked to the Dodgers about him personally and I think he can be something special, he's got great tools and great ability."

Vargas went just 8-for-47 in 18 MLB games last season, but he hit .304/.402/.511 with 17 home runs, 82 RBI, 99 runs scored, and 16 stolen bases in 112 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

He quickly turned heads with his exceptional performance in the minors. As a player that has a disciplined approach at the plate and exceptional hitting abilities, Martinez is just as impressed with Vargas' game.

The Dodgers have a deep and talented roster, but it's clear that Vargas has quickly made himself valuable as a key piece for the team's future success.

Martinez believes Vargas is special, and it will be exciting to watch the young Cuban's career unfold in the coming years. With his natural talent and hardworking mentality, there's no doubt that he has a bright future ahead of him in the league.
