ALDS Game Thread: Guardians At Yankees

Cleveland and New York play in game two of the American League Division Series.

Follow along to this ALDS Game Two game thread as we provide updates, stats, and highlights from all the action in the Bronx. Updates will appear in reverse chronological order.

5:20 PM - BALLGAME!

Guardians win! Now we head back to Progressive Field all tied up!

5:00 PM - Naylor Extends The Lead

Josh Naylor comes in the clutch again. He smoked a double to deep center field which scored Oscar Gonzalez

4-2

4:58 PM - Guardians Take The Lead

Jose Ramirez led off extras with a blooper double and when it was overthrown he advanced to third. Then, Oscar Gonzalez had another bloop hit which scored Ramirez.

Not outs. Top of the tenth. 3-2 ballgame

4:48 PM - Extra Innings

Neith the Guardians nor the Yankees could convert in the ninth inning so we are headed to extra innings here in New York. The last time the Guardians played in an extra inning game, it went 15 innings.

4:24 PM - Guardians, Yankees Head To Ninth Tied

The Guardians and Yankees are still tied at two apiece thanks to home runs from each team.

4:21 PM - Emmal Clase Gets Out Of Bases Loaded Jam

Emmanuel Clase came into the game in the eighth inning with two outs and the bases loaded. That didn't phase him though as he got out of it in three pitches.

Clase continues to be unbelievable.

3:48 PM - Aaron Judge Strikes Out For Fourth Time Today

Cleveland pitching has absolutely owned Aaron Judge so far in the postseason. Bieber struck him out three times alone and Trevor Stephan struck him out once.

Judge still doesn't have a hit against Cleveland pitching this postseason.

3:26 PM - Bieber's Day Is Done

Shane Bieber was taken out in the fifth inning and Trevor Stephan came in relief for him. Bieber had a solid stat line and absolutely shut down the Yankee offense after giving up the two-run home run to Giancarlo Stanton.

This was his final line:

2:38 PM - Tie Game! Rosario Goes Deep Off Cortes!

Folks, it's all tied up! In the top of the fifth inning, Amed Rosario crushed a solo home run off Nestor Cortes to make a 2-2 ballgame.

2:22 PM - Guardians Get On The Board

The Guardians finally score some runs that haven't come from a home run. In the top of the fourth inning, Andres Gimenez ripped an RBI double which scored Josh Naylor.

It's great to see Cleveland finally score some runs and that Naylor is alright. Just a few plays before he came up limping after coming down awkwardly on his ankle he injured a few years ago.

It's now a 1-2 ballgame!

2:10 PM - Bieber Gets Out Of Jam

It's still a 2-0 ball game and the Yankees were threatening to make it worse. Shane Bieber found himself in a jam with runners on second and third in the heart of the Yankees order.

However, he was able to get out of it thanks to a Steven Kwan running catch. The deficient is still only two runs, but the offense needs to give Bieber some help.

1:25 PM - Yankees Strike First

Giancarlo Stanton got New York on the board first with a two-run homer that scored himself and Anthony Rizzo

The pitch right before the home run was a horrendous call by the home plate umpire and Stanton should've been on first via a walk. Usually, that kind of call goes the pitcher's way. In this case, it didn't and Stanton took advantage of the extra strike and crushed it.

1:14 PM - Guardians Can't Convert

Steven Kwan and Amed Rosario both got on base at the top of the first inning. However, Jose Ramirez flew out and Oscar Gonzalez lined into a double play.

Definitely frustrating, but the bunt from Kwan and base hit from Rosario is a good sign the offense is getting their groove back.
