2024 Guardians Spring Training Players Of The Game: Game 20

Cleveland's David Fry, Ramón Laureano, Tanner Burns, and Hunter Gaddis each played well in the team's 13-7 victory over the Colorado Rockies.

The Cleveland Guardians earned their seventh 2024 Cactus League win with a 13-7 victory over the Colorado Rockies yesterday afternoon.

With 90 players representing the Guardians during spring training (40-man roster, 22 non-roster invitees, and 28 depth camp players), each game’s roster will vary.

Based on Cleveland’s roster for yesterday’s game and their performances in the contest, here are four Players of the Game.

David Fry, C

The 28-year-old’s only hit of the game contributed to a seven-run bottom of the fourth inning for the Guardians.

Fry hit a two-run home run to extend Cleveland’s lead to 9-1. This was his second home run of the spring.

Ramón Laureano, DH

The 29-year-old also drove in a pair of runs for the Guardians in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Laureano hit a two-run double to give Cleveland a 6-1 advantage. This gave him his first double, as well as his third and fourth RBI, of the spring.

Tanner Burns, RHP

The 25-year-old non-roster invitee pitched a perfect top of the ninth inning of relief, striking out the first two hitters he faced before forcing a groundout to end the game.

In five relief appearances so far this spring, the right-hander has allowed no runs and just two hits, recording one save, six strikeouts, four walks, and a .133 opposing batting average.

Burns made 29 appearances (14 starts) with Double-A Akron last season.

Hunter Gaddis, RHP

The 25-year-old pitched a perfect top of the sixth inning of relief, striking out the last of the three batters he faced.

In six relief appearances so far this spring, Gaddis has recorded a 2.35 ERA, eight strikeouts, one walk, a 0.78 WHIP, and a .185 opposing batting average.
