Dallas Mavericks Nab March Madness Darling In Recent Mock Draft

The Dallas Mavericks are en route to an NBA Draft Lottery pick and in the latest mock draft, the Mavericks walk away with NCAA March Madness ddarling, Maryland big man Derik Queen.

The NCAA March Madness Tournament is entering its second weekend and Maryland is still dancing. In a tournament that has been void of upsets and thrillers, the Terrapins are the closest team to fit that build left dancing.

Afterall, Maryland punched its ticket to the Sweet Sixteen via a buzzer beater by center Derik Queen against the Colorado State Rams. This gives Maryland the right to take on the Florida Gators on Thursday, March 27.

With March Madness in full swing, the 2025 NBA Draft coverage heats up. The Latest Mock Draft from NBA Draft expert Derek Parker has an interesting landing spot for the Maryland big man.

As the Dallas Mavericks are half-in and half-out on chasing down a play-in spot, even if they reach the No. 10 seed heights in the Western Conference, the run should be short lived in that tournament. Ultimately falling to the NBA Draft Lottery.

In his latest Mock Draft, expert Derek Parker has the Mavericks with pick no. 13 and with that selection, grabbing Queen to try to sure up its roster.

"Dallas fans desperately need good news in any capacity and grabbing Derik Queens in the late lottery could be just that...Queen is a really interesting prospect. Coming from that same school of big playmaker as guys like Domantas Sabonis and Alprene Sengun but hosting the same issues too. I think Queen's future in the NBA is likely a four alongside a rim-protecting stretch five and the Mavericks just acquired one of the best in the league in that regard with Anthony Davis," Parker said.

Queen to Dallas would be fun to watch unfold with his pairing next to Davis and joining a front court littered with talent such as Derek Lively II and Daniel Gafford which gives him room to grow.
