Prospect Profile

After a season at Wake Forest, McCray took his talents to Jacksonville, where he’s thrived as one of the most underrated players in the country. The lefty combo guard does a little bit of everything on the court and has already caught the attention of NBA teams.

McCray has always been able to score the ball, but in his third season, he has really improved as a facilitator. He has taken on more of a role as a lead guard, making plays for not only himself, but others as well. His 3-point shot still needs work, but the lefty shoots it with confidence and there’s reason to believe he can improve on that front. In the meantime, he’s great at getting to the rim and finishing at a high rate. McCray is effective as the handler in pick-and-role scenarios and has proven to make plays in transition pushing the pace.

McCray is a good positional rebounder who crashes the boards well on both ends and has a knack for the ball. He stuffs the stat sheet and impacts the game in so many ways. When it comes to winning, he can always find a way to elevate his team.

McCray -- a former three-star recruit -- declared for the 2024 NBA Draft as an early entrant, but ultimately decided to come back for another season. Presumably, he is working on some of the things he got feedback from teams on, his game is now more well-rounded and can absolutely help a team at the next level,
