Prospect Profile
A late-bloomer of an NBA prospect, Oweh spent two seasons at Oklahoma with steady improvement before breaking out at Kentucky in year three. He plays within himself and is smart, making the right plays and understanding how to help his team win. He has an NBA-ready frame that allows him to be a unique blend of strong and mobile.
On the offensive end, Oweh has a quick first step and is a good decision-maker. His 3-point shot has come a long way, which has been a catalyst in his ability to emerge as an NBA talent. He needs to continue improving his accuracy at a scaled rate relative to increased volume, but he has looked great as a 3-point shooter of late.
Bigger picture, Oweh is more of a play finisher or off-ball threat than an on-ball creator. He could emerge as a secondary playmaker, but given what his role will be early on at the NBA level, what he’s doing now is actually quite projectable.
Oweh has tremendous upside on the defensive end with his size and frame — some of which hasn’t even come to fruition yet. He’s shown much more consistency on that end as his collegiate career has progressed and he is starting to make a name for himself as a versatile stopper. The Kentucky guard has the upside to develop into a very valuable role player who impacts both ends, spaces the floor and can slow down opposing perimeter players.
Oweh has the pedigree of a great athlete, with a brother who also played college basketball and another brother who was drafted into the NFL. He has gone from an underrated prospect who likely could have landed a two-way spot in the 2024 NBA Draft to an even better prospect ahead of the 2025 NBA Draft.
