Prospect Profile

After five seasons at the collegiate level, Jones is now making the leap to the NBA. He spent three seasons at Wenatchee Valley College before transferring to Idaho for a year followed by Washington State for the recent season. With the Cougars is where Jones really popped, as he showcased a well-rounded game en route to All-Pac-12 First Team honors.

Standing at 6-foot-9, Jones has a 7-foot-3 wingspan and plays with power and physicality. He can score the ball well for a forward, and efficiently too. He has good touch within 10 feet of the basket, but isn’t at all a 3-point shooter. That will be the one skill he’ll look to add to his game, as the 23-year-old lacks a perimeter game. With that in mind, he is a solid free throw shooter.

When it comes to doing the little things, Jones is a good rebounder and also has shot-blocking upside. He has blocked more than a shot per game in two consecutive seasons and understands how to leverage his length.

He may not be a perfect prospect, but he brings a lot of value in the things he does well. Jones will play primarily at the power forward position in the NBA, with 3-point shooting being his major swing skill.

Since the end of the college season, Jones has done nothing but increase his draft stock. He had a great shooting at Portsmouth and G League Elite Elite Camp, which led to an invite to the NBA Draft Combine where he continued to impress teams.
