HUB Football 2023 February CAMP Spotlight

Latest pro free agent showcase in San Diego this weekend expected to have USFL scouts in attendance.

On Sunday, February 19th, the HUB Football CAMP free agent showcase, which NFL super agent Don Yee founded, will feature 58 players looking to showcase their talent in front of NFL and USFL scouts.

The upcoming event features a roster that includes several players with pro experience. USFL staff is expected to be in attendance and teams in need of defenders will be in for a pleasant surprise with several notable veterans scheduled to participate.

Here are five players who could capitalize on the opportunity and land with a pro team:

QB Roland Rivers III, Slippery Rock

The former Slippery Rock standout landed a rookie camp invite with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021 after putting together a strong resumé in college. He set numerous school single-season records, such as most passing yards in a season, most completions and most touchdowns, not to mention career records as well. Rivers won nearly every award and accolade possible at the D-II ranks, including First-Team All-American and the Harlon Hill Trophy, which is the DII award for the best player in the country, much like the Heisman Trophy. With a strong showing this weekend, Rivers will be on the fast track to play at the next level.

RB Marcel Dancy, California

The former Golden Bears running back will get his shot to show why he deserves to be on a roster at the next level. At around 5-foot-10 and 205 pounds, Dancy has the size of an all-around back. He played in 32 games through four seasons at Cal, showing his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield and even flashed his potential in the return game. Though he didn't receive a full workload in college, he made the most of each touch, averaging 6.3 yards when the ball was in his hands. Dancy will show why he shouldn't be overlooked anymore when he steps on the field at the next HUB Football CAMP.

WR Devin Ross, Colorado

As a receiver that doesn't have the size of one like DK Metcalf, you need to have shiftiness and understand how to create separation. Ross does just that. At Colorado, he finished eighth in school history with 143 receptions and had four career 100-yard games. He spent time with the New England Patriots in 2021 and most recently with the Michigan Panthers in the USFL, where he totaled 28 receptions for 312 yards and one touchdown. Rivers-to-Ross will be something you hear a lot this weekend at the HUB Football CAMP.

CB Anthony Blue, Newberry

A four-year starter at Newberry, Blue was one of the top DII prospects in the 2022 NFL Draft. He racked up numerous accolades over his career, including AP All-American, South Atlantic Conference and Division II All-Southeast Region First Team selection. Blue comes ready to play on every down. He is a hardworking player and someone who understands his assignment. Blue was the vocal leader for Newberry's defense and followed that up with his stout defense on the backend.

DB Traveon Beck, California

A nickel corner for California, Beck played 43 games, starting seven over his college career. One of the stronger performers at the July HUB Football CAMP, Beck showed off strong man coverage skills and his phenomenal athleticism. He matches up one-on-one very well, pairing his speed and fluidity with his great ball skills. He can match up against anyone and plans to show that again at the next event. Any team looking for options to help upgrade the slot corner position should have Beck on the shortlist.
