Fantasy Baseball Rankings: Top 5 Outfielders for 2025 Season

In this story:
After two months of baseball research, the 2025 MLB Hitter Projections have been released. This Google Sheet (request to view required) lists the top 14 batters for all 30 major league teams.
Our lineup view allows us to adjust hitters on the fly due to batting order changes and add or subtract playing time due to injuries. Here's a look at the top five outfielders according to our projections.
5. OF Juan Soto, New York Mets

36 Home Runs | 101 RBIs | .283 AVG | 127 Runs | 9 Stolen Bases
Juan Soto Fantasy Baseball Outlook:
Fantasy Outlook: Soto ranked sixth in FPGscore (8.95) for hitters in 2024, nine spots higher than 2023 (5.98). He trails the elite batters in baseball by a wide margin in stolen bases, forcing him to post a .320 batting to overcome this shortfall. The Mets have on-base talent at the top of their lineup, suggesting he’ll bat third this season. It was important that Pete Alonso re-signed with the Mets for lineup protection and improving results in runs. Based on his propensity to take walks, Soto may never have 600 at-bats in a season, costing him chances at more home runs. I respect his potential in runs, home runs, and RBIs while understanding that he’s just reaching the prime of his career. Soto must be more opportunistic on the base paths or rank highly in batting average to post difference-maker stats.
4. OF Kyle Tucker, Chicago Cubs

34 Home Runs | 106 RBIs | .280 AVG | 95 Runs | 26 Stolen Bases
3. OF Corbin Carroll, Arizona Diamondbacks

24 Home Runs | 82 RBIs | .280 AVG | 127 Runs | 49 Stolen Bases
2. OF Aaron Judge, New York Yankees

54 Home Runs | 118 RBIs | .283 AVG | 110 Runs | 11 Stolen Bases
1. DH/OF Shohei Ohtani, Los Angeles Dodgers

43 Home Runs | 102 RBIs | .294 AVG | 115 Runs | 29 Stolen Bases
Shohei Ohtani Fantasy Baseball Outlook:
Fantasy Outlook: The Dodgers will pay Ohtani $2 million a season from 2024 to 2033, followed by a 10-year run with $68 million in earnings. The success of his bat almost forces the fantasy market to view him as a hitter going forward. His power is off the charts, and he has 35 consecutive successful steals. With pitching added to his workload, Los Angeles may not let him run as much in 2025. His increase in plate appearances last season, paired with the move to Los Angeles, led to his stats reaching an elite level in five categories. With 600 at-bats, a .300/125/50/120/30 season is a reasonable outcome. Late in the year, a fantasy team gaining an offensive edge will have the ability to rotate on the pitching side. On a side note, Ohtani suffered a late left shoulder injury (labrum) in the World Series that required surgery in early November.
