Alabama Football Visits the Lawry's Beef Bowl: Postcard from Beverly Hills

In this story:
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif— One of the most storied events across all bowl games is the Lawry's Beef Bowl as part of the activities leading up to the Rose Bowl. The Alabama Crimson Tide got its trip to Lawry's in Beverly Hills on Friday night.
"My dad had a restaurant growing up, so I know how difficult it is in the restaurant business, and I know the staff is the most important part of that," Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. "So for you to provide a great experience for our players, we really appreciate it. We're excited about having the opportunity to play in the Rose Bowl, and we're going to provide I hope a great game for everybody."
Alabama kicker Will Reichard kicked off the festivities with the salad spin. He got to choose who got the first salad, and Reichard served the plate to his head coach who was sitting front and center.

Center Seth McLaughlin was presented with the Rose Bowl Scholar Athlete Award. Then sophomore defensive lineman Jaheim Oatis was selected to do "the first cut" of Lawry's famous prime rib. The menu consisted of salad, prime rib, mashed potatoes with gravy and creamed corn with apple pie and vanilla ice cream for dessert.
The consensus among players was that the offensive lineman would be able to put away the must food on the night.
Media in attendance were even able to get in on the fun as well with our own prime rib dinner. This wrapped up the third full day of festivities at the Rose Bowl.
