Alabama Football's Second Day of Spring on The Joe Gaither Show

What was Alabama football practice like on The Joe Gaither Show | Episode 184: March 6, 2024.

The Alabama Crimson Tide hit the football field for the second time this spring and the media was allowed to check out the action so that became the main source of content on the Wednesday edition of "The Joe Gaither Show on BamaCentral".

Before we talk about practice we get into Chris Low's latest piece on Nick Saban's retirement and the way college football is trending. Low highlighted Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne and his rapid reaction to Saban's decision and we discussed how name, image and likeness may have driven him out of the game.

The program then has to hit on the Crimson Tide basketball team's dismal result against the Florida Gators on Tuesday night. Alabama turned the basketball over, didn't shoot the 3-point shot well and allowed the Gators to get to the free throw line 46 times on their way to a crushing conference loss. What's the outlook for the team as the postseason is just around the corner?

The program then turns fully to football as we discuss sights and sounds at Alabama football's Wednesday practice. First we discuss the music that was played at practice and the way that may have contributed to the pace of practice.

Our primary focus was on the running backs and defensive lineman as we observe the split between the scholarship running backs and some new faces in the defensive line room.

The program got into other players that stood out during our viewing period and our discussions with defensive coaches Kane Wommack and Freddie Roach after practice and more.
